Using Google Apps Sync with Outlook 2007/2010 and iPads/iPhones -


a little background: use google apps business , having issues users inadvertently becoming meeting owners or moving meeting locations or times on accident. every user in company admin on own machine. users encouraged bring own devices there's no guarantee set unless ask desk help.

my supervisor asking me post , guys: there other testing should doing? other ideas? has else using google calendars had attendees inadvertently move meeting times or locations when not meeting owner?

test setup: types of setup pcs or ipads: outlook 2007 google apps sync on pc, outlook 2010 google apps sync on pc, google calendar in browser on pc, google calendar in ipad set google (this setup recommended , supported google), google calendar in ipad set exchange (this set neither recommended nor supported google) test cases: machine b accept machine b decline machine b, change meeting time, accept machine b, b change meeting time, accept machine b, change meeting time, decline machine b, b change meeting time, decline machine b, move meeting location, accept machine b, b move meeting location, accept machine b, move meeting location, decline machine b, b move meeting location, decline

results:

  • outlook 2010:

no issues found. meeting owner move location or time of meeting meeting (attendee sent notification automatically) attendee suggest other times , not move meeting location.

  • outlook 2007:

    issue found. meeting owner move time , location of meeting (attendee sent notification automatically) meeting attendee move time of meeting not location.

  • google calendar in browser:

no issues found. meeting owner move location or time of meeting meeting (attendee sent notification automatically) attendee notified contact meeting owner , not move meeting time or location.

  • ipad google:

no issues found. meeting owner move location or time of meeting meeting (attendee sent notification automatically) attendee notified contact meeting owner , not move meeting time or location. attendee move meeting on own calendar not reflected in actual event.

  • ipad exchange:

issues found. attendee move both time , location of meeting , these changes not notify meeting owner.

recommendations: pcs should set outlook 2010 using google apps sync , ipads , iphones should set google. future calendar issues occur desk must notified , forwarded original invitation (including .ics attachment) upon discovering issue can notify google technical support.
