what differences between .cpt templates , .pt templates in plone? there any?

.cpt files controller page templates, .pt files regular page templates.

the former handled formcontroller tool, latter normal page templates. cmfformcontroller framework has largely been deprecated, , in process of being removed plone.

the best documentation how these work can still find 2004 plone conference presentation (pdf).
