android - How does FitBit manage to totally take over NFC? -


the fitbit app introduced new nfc functionality , now, though app, , several other apps have installed on device registered (in manifest) nfc apps, android no longer asks me app i'd use , goest straight fitbit when scan nfc tag devices.

i'm curious doing override settings in manifest. there way can running service dominates nfc , swallows incoming nfc intents?

i'm hoping there's way undermine they're doing cause currently, in effect, app malware breaks underlying basic nfc functionality on android.

a service cannot receive nfc intents, cannot cause of see. far can tell, fitbit app filters nfc events mime type "text/plain". if nfc tag contains ndef text record, start fitbit or, if more apps installed same intent filter nfc , "text/plain", app chooser shown relevant apps.

try scanning tag different content or change content on tag different type of ndef message , see happens.
